NAMASTE
Hi There!
I am an economist.  I received my Ph.D. in  economics from Southern Methodist University, U.S.A., in 1977, having completed Bachelor's and Masters in Economics in India. I was a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee (1978 to 1987), Indiana University - Bloomington (1987-1995) and the Indian Statistical Institute - Delhi Centre from 1995 to 2016. In May 2018, I completed a three-year visiting professorship at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Currently, I am a Courtesy Faculty at the University of South Florida.

My core areas of research is international trade (currently I am writing papers on trade in services), growth and development with particular emphasis on the service sector and economics of terrorism and conflict.  I am writing a  monograph on the Economics of Terrorism for the upper-undergraduate level. See my page "Book Proposal: An Economic Analysis of Terrorism" for draft chapters.  I am very interested in learning business cycles also.

I was the founding editor of a field journal, Indian Growth and Development Review, from 2007 to 2014.  During 2011-2015 I served as the Head, Indian Statistical Institute - Delhi Centre.
